Honey I have said it a million times, Momma put together a family cookbook 20 years ago and it is my goto book. I have about 4 of them so wherever I am I can look, study, think about my food. Aunt Mary then made one for all her stuff seperate and gave them for Christmas about 10+ years ago and it is the same. Lynn you couldn't do anything more filled with love than this.
Not really since all the recipes are already posted, that's the hard part. I want to do one more after the holidays, then maybe one a year, just something for jeremy to have when I'm gone. Also for me to use now! Thanks
Thank you so much Cynthia. I hope to make two more when it's all said and done. I never had anything from my mom, so I didn't want to repeat that with him.
Lynn this is the best cookbook I have ever seen. Your son is so lucky to have such a wonderful mother. My mother made cookbooks for us about 10 years ago with all the family recipes in it and it my go to book. He will enjoy having your recipes forever and it will be his go to book.
thanks!!! I couldn't figure out the best way to include food photo's which are a fascinating hobby of mine, I guess from lack of making up my mind I finally went this route. That is very cool what you did, and volume 2 will certainly be a hit when you get to it, lol. My only family left is my hubby, son and grandson, so all I can give them is what I know. It's fun to do though.
Hi Lynn!
In 2007 I created a cookbook for my siblings and dad that included photos of the family - the recipes were a combination of our Mother's, and from each of the family. I also included some of Mom's important stories about cooking, what was her favorite meal, and even a teaser about secret ingredients in her Rhubarb pie, but did not provide the recipe ... that's for Volume 2, if and when I get around to putting it together. I didn't have them professionally done, just photocopied the pages and placed in 3-ring binders. They were given as Christmas presents.
It is time consuming, but I agree, I think it's a great keepsake. So excited to show him, well all my family when it arrives, they do not realize I'm doing it, they will get a kick out of it!
He will cherish all of your books and they will be a great keepsake to pass down. I'm doing the same thing with family favorites but haven't had the time to finish them . I want pics with all of the recipes and that's time consuming.:D
Thank you Karla, I am doing several for him, when my Mom died she only had some index cards with recipes on them, and I have no idea what happened to them. My son is the other foodie in the house, and is already a pretty good cook. Just thought it would be nice for him to have something in print that might not get lost. Oh, BTW, not planning on dying anytime soon, fingers crossed, but thought it was time to start making some books.
