Mary Berry Smoothie

“Love this smoothie! As I'm bleary-eyed in the mornings, I measure out the milk and yogurt and put in a single container in the fridge. I love Green Thickies and prefer a Thickie over a smoothie because they are more fulfilling and keep me full longer. You can make any smoothie a thickie by adding a filler such as sweet potatoes, rolled oats, avocado, quinoa, tofu, eggs (cooked or raw), etc.

Peanut Butter Banana Green Thickie
Yield: 2 Servings Prep Time: 2 minutes

Ingredients
1 c purified/filtered water
1 c unsweetened almond milk, plain or vanilla
2 c spinach, loosely packed, or 2 scoops of your favorite green powder
3-4 Bananas
2 Tbsp peanut butter, almond butter or nut butter of your choice or PB2 peanut butter powder
1 tsp vanilla or banana extract
1 c sweet potato, cooked, or rolled oats
1/2 c dates – optional (I don’t use them as I think this is sweet enough. If I find I need a bit of sweetness I use a couple drops of Stevia.)

Directions
Depending on your blender, add all ingredients in the order listed. I have a Vitamix and put everything in at once. If you don’t have a powerful blender, or you are using frozen ingredients, you should start by putting your greens in your blender cup first, then your liquids and blend, then add a couple ingredients at a time, going from hardest to softest ingredient, blending in between each addition.

Blend until smooth, or as smooth as your blender will provide. High speed blenders may need 2 minutes to complete a Green Thickie, less powerful blenders may need a lot more time, sometimes 5-10 minutes)

Transfer into a mason jar or your preferred vessel for drinking.

Nutrition
Serving Size: 550 ml/16 oz /1 pint
Calories: 450 calories per serving without dates, 500 calories with dates

Notes
Add more water if you need to thin it out.
If your smoothie is too warm, you can cool it down in the fridge or freezer, or freeze some of your ingredients before blending. You can also add ice cubes to replace half of the liquids if you’d like. Add ice at the end. It is better to add frozen ingredients at the end to cool the smoothie down.
This can be used as a meal replacement. It makes 2 servings. I split it into mason jars and put one in the fridge for later.
The "inventor" of Green Thickies is Kathrine Kyle. She runs her own website which has a lot of interesting information. You can google Green Thickies and she'll come up.

If you click on the smoothie name it takes you to the recipe. It'd be nice if they had the recipe on the same page, but I just opened them all in another tab instead of having to constantly go back and forth
