Lyn is my sister, and she certainly is one of the great cooks in the family. She took after both our Grandmothers. My daughter took after her Auntie, she loves to cook as well. It is nice they have the talent. Lyn can cook almost anything wether it be Christmas Dinner or bake the nice desserts like the ones in her cookbook. We always love going to her house to see what the surprise will be, one thing for sure it is always awesome!
What a beautiful account, Ellen. My husband named me too! LOL My high school friends shortened my name to Lyn and Bob and I lived 100 miles away, so each night we would go out at 9pm and blow a kiss to the middle star in the big dipper. I was skinny then and he dubbed me "little star". When I started a business MANY years ago I needed a name so I used Lyn and spelled star with 2 r's to be a "real" name. haha I love having a little mystery...

Thanks for the compliment, Lyn, but I DON'T write for the newspaper, at least not now. I did years ago when I lived in South Bend. Now I am selling newspaper subscriptions by phone! I do write fiction, though, when I have the time. And lately I have been writing columns on food and dining for the Examiner.com. But the name Starwriter comes from another source. My late husband really believed I could become a published author and always said I'd be a "star," so he called me "Starwriter."
But everyone assumes that I'm a writer for the Indianapolis Star--lol!
Well, what a sweet thing to say, Lyn! You are a classy lady, and I love your recipes.
I'll bet you are really excited to be getting that recipe book. I recently acquired my mother's and gleaned quite a few good old favorites from it. I know you'll enjoy it!
Hugs

I was just given my husband's great-grandmother's recipe book from 1901 because my SIL doesn't cook I cannot wait to get into it! She cooks like me by the seat of my pants...like so many of you!! LOL
I feel that you are becoming a good friend and I hope to meet you some day, Ellen!
My gosh you two make me blush!! I really appreciate your comments on my cookbook! I am so very happy to have found this site and then to find that I can make a cookbook too! My niece has been after me to write down all of the family recipes since I am the oldest and the "cook" of the family. Michelle is quite the baker and has aspirations to open a bakery when she retires from being a Vice-Pres of a Bank in the South LOL She will work harder and be lots poorer, but perhaps happier :-) All of the granddaughters love to cook, from 28 years to almost 6 yrs. So this cookbook and more to come are for them. Very touched that you two of all people like my book!! Thanks so much. Love, Lynda oops Lyn hehe
Thanks, Lyn. Truth is I have a lot of spare time--semi-retired, work part-time, and don't get out a lot due to complications from knee replacement surgery. I spend a lot of time reading and "recipe-ing."
