This was my "go to" recipe when I needed dessert and we were "poor as church mice!" newly wed and now retired with SS...guess we've come full circle! These recipes are coming in handy :)

This cake is so fluffy and great taste!

Blue Ribbon Recipe

What a refreshing recipe! Simple and delicious, this is an easy cake to whip together on short notice.... oh, and it tastes great too!

Ingredients

1/2 c
shortening
1 c
sugar
2
eggs
2 1/4 c
all purpose flour, sifted
1/2 tsp
salt
3 tsp
baking powder
3/4 c
milk
1 tsp
vanilla extract

Step-By-Step

1Pre-heat oven to 350. Bake about 30 minutes or until tooth pick comes out clean.
2Cream shortenting (Crisco), sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add eggs and beat thoroughly. Add ingredients ALTERNATLY with milk, mixing after each addition.
3Bake in prepared (greased and lightly floured) 8" round cake pans.
