When my kids were young I did mostly scratch cooking, because I loved it and it was much less expensive. It also brought a sense of family to have heirloom recipes. As the kids grew up and I developed other passions I had less time at home and developed or adopted more time-saving recipes. My biggest reason for getting recipes on here is because 4/5 of our kids are living on their own and constantly ask for recipes and/or argue about who will get my original handwritten copies of family favorites. Making a set of cookbooks at JAP and giving them to each as gifts was my solution.
