I learned to bake in school and that started my joy for making all kinds of goodies. Over the years, I have finally become a cook of many things, not always needing a recipe anymore. Love seasonings, herbs and unique flavors. Hobby these days seems to be "tasting" recipes by reading them. I do it all the time and actually am becoming a recipe hoarder, I believe.
