Crock Pot Recipes for the Big Game

Southern Pork BBQ

This Sunday a group of friends are gathering to watch the big game and, of course, to eat food! Whether it is pot luck or you are preparing the entire menu, slow cooker recipes are perfect for game day. Put all the ingredients into the Crock Pot in the morning and by game time it's done.

Tommy Curtis' (Sharps Chapel, TN) Cantina Beef and Lime Tacos are a fantastic go-to recipe for adding a little spice to your tacos.

"Super easy to fix, just put the main ingredient in the Crock Pot in the morning and it's ready at supper," shares Tommy. "This dish is also foolproof, you can't mess it up!"

The roast tenderizes while being slowly cooked and easily falls apart when shredded with two forks. It's filled with flavor thanks to the cumin and chili powder. These would be great for a taco bar. Set out the toppings and everyone can personalize their tacos.

Chili is a game day essential for me and I love Joyce Newman's (Roseville, CA) Super Bowl Award Winning Chili Beans. With just the right balance of heat and flavor, it's a wonderfully solid chili for the hearty eaters in your life.

"My personal recipe for spicy chili beans won a chili cook-off" at a Super Bowl party," reveals Joyce. "There were 10 Crock Pots full of chili in the cook-off, mine took first place! Most people think that these chili beans have just the right amount of kick."

Joyce's recipe can be prepared on the stovetop or in the slow cooker. For game day, I prefer to prepare it in the slow cooker. It's just one less thing to worry about during the day.

This chili is filled with beans and beef. Chili powder, ground cumin, Mexican oregano, and cayenne pepper add a big punch of flavor to this easy recipe. If you don't like heat in your chili, leave out the cayenne. Top with shredded cheese and a dollop of sour cream and you'll have a delicious bowl of chili.

"These Crock Pot French Dip Sandwiches are so easy and delicious," says Teresa Carter (Harlan, KY). "The kids LOVE them and so do I."

Letting the beef simmer in the Crock Pot means it absorbs all the flavors from the onions, peppers and Italian salad dressing mix. Placing the shredded beef on a piece of crusty French bread and topping with melted provolone is wonderful. It's always fun to dip a sandwich, too, and this au jus is so flavorful.

Something Buffalo has to be on the menu for a football party. Nelda Carnley's (Jack, AL) Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches are so good that your family will never guess how easy it was to prepare.

It's like hot wings and a hoagie all rolled into one... who wouldn't love that? Place the shredded chicken on a hoagie with a little more hot sauce and cheese and you have a great sandwich. Make sure to have some ranch or bleu cheese for dipping too. So good!

"You don't have to wait until summer to have a great pulled BBQ pork sandwich," thinks Genny Miller (Nampa, ID). "I always get requests to make these delicious Southern Pork BBQ sandwiches. It's made in a slow cooker, so it's easy to make, but so tasty."

What's great about this recipe is that you use your favorite BBQ sauce and all the other ingredients just enhance the flavor. The pork is tender, juicy and shreds beautifully. It's perfect with coleslaw on a bun. This one is simple and delish.

Whether heading to a game day party or hosting a group of friends, try one of these easy Crock Pot recipes perfect for the Super Bowl. Who are you rooting for? Share your pick and favorite football recipe below. Happy Pinching!
