Create Magical Biscuits With Simple Ingredients

Old Fashion Buttermilk Biscuits

Growing up in the south, biscuits were a staple at my meals. And boy did my mom make amazing biscuits. I would patiently stand by the oven waiting for them to be done. There is nothing better than biting into a biscuit fresh out of the oven.

One bite of Nathan Lutz's Old Fashion Buttermilk Biscuits and my childhood memories came flooding back.

Nathan's biscuits are light and fluffy with a slightly sweet taste. They're hearty enough for a breakfast sandwich. Some sausage gravy on them wouldn't be too bad either. And the aroma, while they're baking, is heavenly!

"After attempts to make fluffy but buttery tasting biscuits, I think I finally came up with a terrific recipe," says Robin T. of her Failproof Fluffy Butter Biscuits.

Sweet or savory, these easy biscuits are a delight. Try them with marmalade or your favorite jam. Alongside a cup of tea, they're a great way to start your day.

While Nathan and Robin roll their biscuits, Anna Ewing uses a different technique for her Mom's Biscuits recipe. "These biscuits are a spoon drop, not a roll and cut," explains Anna. "My kid calls them crunchy biscuits."

These are really quick and easy. They're the perfect biscuit to whip-up when you have company for breakfast. They will love waking up to the smell of these! I can understand why Anna's child like these... I liked the crunchy texture to the biscuits too.

Experimenting with ingredients and flavors is fun too. Which is what Sandi Weiso Brown did with her recipe. "I was thinking about an individual pumpkin bread, something easy-to-serve, so I decided to try this change to my favorite biscuit recipe," reveals Sandi. The result... light and flavorful Pumpkin Whole Wheat Fluffy Biscuits.

Alone, these biscuits aren't overly sweet. They'd be great with just a bit of butter at breakfast. But, turn them into a dessert by preparing the alternative icing Sandi mentions. It's sweet and satisfying!

Adding sweet potato makes Millie Johnson's Sweet Potato Biscuits a wonderful twist on a traditional biscuit. "I first had these little biscuits at a quaint mountain restaurant," reminisces Millie. "This is my own version which is lighter from using baked sweet potato instead of canned."

The options for serving these are endless. They'd be great with a pat of butter, or make cinnamon butter for something special. For your next party, make smaller biscuits and serve with pork tenderloin for a yummy appetizer. They'd be a great addition to your holiday table.

Know someone who can't tolerate gluten? Thanks to Dawn Ballou, they can enjoy biscuits again. You would never believe her Cheese Biscuits are gluten free.

"I am eating low carb and I find that a lot of the gluten free recipes can fit nicely into my meal planning," shares Dawn. Garlic powder, onion and cheddar cheese make these biscuits super flavorful. I bet everyone will just eat these up!

Whether rolled and cut or spooned and dropped, there are so many good biscuits and each one is as good as the next. I hope these recipes have inspired you to get into your kitchen and create something magical. And don't forget to share your recipe!
