We have such an abundance of pears that we needed to do something with them. So we started making recipes and drying the rest in the food dehydrator. I wanted to share this simple technique with you, so you can make these healthy snacks for your family and friends. They are delicious! Add them to trail mix, cereal, put them in recipes, or just eat them plain. Enjoy!

Ingredients For bonnie’s dried pears

  • fresh pears
  • lemon juice
  • water
  • food dehydrator

How To Make bonnie’s dried pears

  • Dried pear slices from our pear tree.
Make a "bath water" in a large bowl of one quart of water and 1 tablespoon lemon juice. Wash and core pears and cut into thin rings. (Bits and pieces can be dried, too.) Plunge the prepared pears in the bath water. Leave for a few minutes, then remove, shaking off the excess water.
  • food dehydrator
Add the slices and any bits and pieces to the food dehydrator and dry according to the directions for your appliance.
  • Pear slices dried
Store the dried pears in a Ziploc bag in the fridge or freezer. Easy to do, and they taste great. Enjoy!
