lean ground beef or italian sausage
1 small
onion, chopped
2 clove
garlic, minced
1 can(s)
14.5 oz. diced tomatoes
1 1/2 c
1 tsp
1 small
can tomato paste
1 Tbsp
1 tsp
1/4 tsp
freshly ground black pepper or red pepper flakes.
2 1/2 c
bow tie pasta, uncooked
1-1 1/2 c
ricotta cheese or small curd cottage cheese
1/4 c
parmesan cheese, shredded or grated

How to Make Bow Tie Lasagna (Stove Top)


  • 1Cook ground beef, onion, and garlic. Drain if necessary.
  • 2Add tomatoes, water, tomato paste, sugar, salt and pepper.
  • 3Stir in uncooked pasta and bring to a full boil; then reduce heat to a simmer.
  • 4Cover and simmer for 20-25 minutes.
  • 5Combine ricotta (or cottage cheese) and parmesan cheese. Drop by tablespoon onto pasta mixture. Sprinkle with parsley , cover and simmer for an additional 5 minutes. Top with additional parmesan or mozzarella, if desired.
