Phyllis everytime I read something you wrote, I laugh. You are so funny. I think you are in the wrong profession, you need to be a comedian and make some real money ha Ha Ha Ha
I am happy that you reguard me as a good cook. What a compliment. Did you see the recipe I posted for Crumb Coating Mix for Fish, Chicken or Pork I just love Panko, and I am glad I got you to try it. I love the crispy outer texture, and the moist and juicy inner texture. I just beleive you will get over the phobia, and really come to love it.LOL
aaah - you stand corrected my dear Lady Rose - I don't come close to cooking like you -- YOU'RE the best and oh so elaborate. But the more I try your recipes, the more I will start cooking like you (just not as good of course!). My sister and I had a big long conversation about some of your recipes and I keep saying panko, panko, panko.... she was at the store the other day and bought some panko bread crumbs and fixed some pork chops like I made with it a couple days ago. OH a huge hit - simple but so good. I don't even remember what all I put on the pork chops but I do remember the PANKO that you turned me on to. thanks.... bought a can of spam but I can't quite open the can yet. gulp. I think I have a phobia against spam from my childhood but I will make your recipe. :)
I think we are related too Phyllis. We sure do cook many things alike. So Briana is not alone in loving this recipe, everyone in my family really loves this recipe, and that is a LOT OF PEOPLE. But they are thick and rich and slightly tart from the mustard, and has a hickory smoked flavor from the liquid smoke. My neighbor Cookie who has since passed away, loved to make cold bake Bean Sandwiches from the left overs and had them for Breakfast. This was one of her favorite recipes. She is the one that made fried Spam for Briana Panko Breaded Spam Slices I took the recipe and recreated it to make it in the oven to taste like it was fried.
I'm with ya BRIana........ since living in Hawaii when I started making baked beans there, I haven't had them without meat either. Briana - I think your mom and I are related! It's a secret though - don't tell anybody.
You know Phyllis, when my daughter was home this weekend, she shared a story with me. She said the first time she made these Baked Beans for her Boyfriend, he just fell in love with them, because he had never had baked beans WITH meat in them before, and Briana said well I have never had them WITHOUT MEAT, SO I THOUGHT EVERYONE MADE THEM WITH MEAT, because as long as I have been born that is the only way my mom makes them. So we had a big laugh. Now her boyfriend is always asking her to make some baked beans, because he loves them. She was happy that these were on the menu when she came home.. They really are thick and rich and good.
