I'm one of those baby boomers who comes from a large family and learned how to cook at a young age alongside my mom. The first dish I remember actually learning how to cook was scrambled eggs, actually taught to me by my oldest brother who showed me how to cook them because he wanted me to cook them for him. It worked. I still enjoy cooking scrambled eggs to this day, so it was definitely a handy skill to learn. I've expanded my skills over the years. While I sometimes enjoy eating gourmet dishes, I rarely prepare them because my family and I prefer meals that are simple country fare.
