I'm married 29 yrs. to a man that is my life. We have two sons, 28 and 22 yrs. old. I come from a family of down home cooking. My mother and both grandmothers were excellent in the kitchen, which was the heart of our home. One piece of advice my mom told me was "if at the end of the day when your husband comes home and you have bad news to tell him, always wait to tell him after he has a full belly!" And trust me I have had plenty of..not so good of news to tell him when the boys were young and I waited until after dinner and it was a lot smoother..
