Main Meals Made in the Crock Pot

Crock Pot Cornish hens on a cutting board

You’ve heard it from me before and you’ll hear it again … I love my slow cooker. It has a permanent place on my kitchen counter. When I don’t feel like cooking, it saves my day. A Crock Pot makes preparing family meals a breeze.

“Quick and fast to throw together” is how Sylvia Bourque describes her Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings Recipe. Your family is going to love this easy comfort food dinner.

Shredded chicken picks up the flavors of the warm, buttery sauce. The carrots cook in the sauce and are super tender.

Homestyle canned biscuits are shortcut dumplings. When combined with the fluffy biscuit, tender chicken, and veggies with the buttery sauce is a delicious bite.

Nicole Darty’s (Redmond, WA) Crock Pot Rosemary Cornish Game Hen is a terrific special occasion dinner. But, thanks to the slow cooker you could really make it any time.

“This recipe came about as an easy dinner for me to throw together when I am home on my lunch break,” shares Nicole. “It has quickly become one of our favorite dinners.”

If you’re not familiar with Cornish hens or think you don’t like hens, basically, it’s a fancy way to say a small chicken. According to the USDA, they’re an immature chicken less than five weeks old and two pounds or less.

This recipe makes the Cornish hens tender. I liked the savory spices, but adjust the garlic and rosemary to your liking.

Need a super easy dinner? Try Tim Russell’s (Gloucester City, NJ) Crock Pot Ranch Pork Chops.

“The pork chops come out very tender and the flavor is amazing,” thinks Tim. “You also get a good gravy for mashed potatoes.”

Made with only 3 ingredients, it’s a set it and forget it recipe. After cooking in the slow cooker, the pork chops are fall-apart tender. The gravy becomes thick and delicious. Serve with rice or mashed potatoes for a comforting meal.

Need a new Sunday roast recipe? Take a look at Jackie Messina’s (Chardon, OH) Crock Pot Beef Roast.

“This is a delicious and very easy roast to make,” reveals Jackie. “My family and I love it. The juice is really good on the meat and on the potatoes.”

Dump everything into the Crock Pot, walk away for a few hours, and dinner practically cooks itself.

The meat can be cut with a fork. Serve over a dollop of mashed potatoes, with the juices poured over, for a delicious Sunday meal.

I love Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches. Lana Bade shared her Family Crock Pot Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches and I’m a big fan of them.

“You will be making these often when you see how easy and delicious this one is,” says Lana. “I get tons of compliments on this recipe, so will you!”

While this simmers in the slow cooker, your house will smell amazing. The beef becomes super tender. Mixed with broth, onions, and peppers, the meat is very flavorful.

Toast the French bread, top with the beef, melt Provolone cheese, and you have an easy-to-make, super tasty sandwich.

From beef to chicken and pork, any main meal can be prepared in the Crock Pot. Want more Crock Pot recipes? Check out the Crock Pot recipe collection. We’re always adding new recipes to it. Happy Pinching!
