Warm up This Winter with Homemade Soup

Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup

Winter has arrived! My hats, gloves and scarves have come out of the closet. And, so has my stockpot. When the weather is this cold, there’s nothing better than a pot of soup simmering on the stove. And, of course, I know some great soup recipes.

Even the pickiest of eaters will love Carolyn Parke’s Cream of Chicken and Wild Rice Soup. “[This is] simple and so good,” says Carolyn “I get asked to make this all the time.” This quick and easy recipe will become a family favorite. It’s flavorful, hearty and oh-so good!

Michelle Pitts’ Texmex Chicken and Corn Chowder is simple to make and sure to earn you rave reviews. It’s perfectly thick, creamy and has a ton of flavor without being too spicy. It’s definitely hearty enough to serve on its own as a meal. Added bonus… your kitchen will smell wonderful for hours after you whip this up.

“This is my family’s quick and personal take on an great soup,” explains Leslie MacArthur of her Pasta E Fagioli Zuccaro Family Recipe. In the Test Kitchen, we used orzo (a tiny pasta), but I think most any small noodle would work well. This lovely, hearty soup is winter comfort food at it’s finest.

Penny Andersen’s Veggie Beef Soup recipe has ordinary ingredients, but EXTRAordinary flavor! “This is best when cooked on the stove in a stock pot all day (8-10 hrs),” explains Penny. “But SO worth the wait!” The veggies lend this soup a unique sweetness that we just ate up. Make sure to have some nice crusty bread handy to soak up all the goodness.

“I have always been a fan of homemade soup and chicken noodle has always been one of my favorites,” shares Jessica Mills. Her Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup is perfectly salty and satisfying – just like grandma use to make! “Just about everyone in my family loves this soup its not only super yummy but you just can’t eat one bowl full it always has you coming back for seconds!” This soup is full of flavor and makes a lot. Pop the leftovers in the freezer for an easy weeknight meal or bring some to a friend.

Have the grilled cheese ready to serve alongside Diane Eldridge’s Homemade Cream of Tomato Soup. Diane’s recipe is fresh, creamy and oh-so comforting! Diane came up with this recipe on a cool day that was just screaming for a hot mug of soup. This is one simple recipe that packs in a ton of flavor. Add fresh basil for even more zip!

I know you’ll enjoy these “soup-er” recipes as much as I do. Do you have a favorite soup? Share the recipe with us!
