My heritage is German and so a few times a year I hit Schiller's German deli and store in South Tampa. I come away with way too many candies and cookies, but also Westphalian Ham and knockwursts! This is my side dish. My Oma LOVED red cabbage and I always dedicate these dinners to her! The brown sugar is missing in the pic, not sure why!

Ingredients

  • 1 medium red cabbage, shredded or chopped roughly
  • 6 - cloves, whole
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 4 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 1/2 medium apples, sweet, peeled and cored, sliced or chopped
  • - salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons light brown sugar

    Step 1
    Combine all ingredients in Instant pot.

    Set to 25 minutes on manual.
  • Step 3
    Enjoy with knockwurst, bratwurst, schnitzel or whatever you like!
