southern style hush puppies
When I was a kid my mom made these all the time. Now my kids (who are grown) make them and I make them for my Grandkids. This is also known as Johnny Cake.

Ingredients
- 2 cups plain corn meal
- 1/4 cup sugar or splenda
- 1/4 cup + 3 tbsp minced onion
- 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 - egg, beaten
How To Make southern style hush puppies

Step 1Mix together cornmeal, sugar, flour, soda and salt; add onions. Stir egg and buttermilk together and add to dry mixture; mix together and drop by spoonfuls into hot oil. When done hush puppies will float to top. Remove, drain on paper towel. Enjoy!!!
