This looks like an easy way to make pickles without needing to can them.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups cucumbers, sliced thin
  • 1 large onion, sliced thin
  • 2 tablespoons pickling salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons dill seed
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper

How To Make freezer dills

  • Step 1
    In a large bowl, combine cucumbers and onion. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of the salt over the vegetables; let stand for 2 hours. Rinse under cold water, drain well.
  • Step 2
    In a large glass bowl, combine sugar, vinegar, garlic, dill seed, and red pepper. Stir well to dissolve sugar. Add cucumbers and onion. Combine.
  • Step 3
    Pack into freezer containers and store in freezer. Defrost in refrigerator at least 8 hours before serving.
