caramel sauce on everything, please! (easy)

As you can see by my recipe title, I love this sauce on EVERYTHING... apples, ice cream, fresh hot apple pie, chocolate cake, apple crisp, any grilled summer fruit... Let your imagination go wild. But, whatever you serve it on, there will be no left-overs... guaranteed. This also makes a lovely, economical gift presented in an old-fashioned canning jar for a new neighbor, an elderly friend or starving college kids. Give this a try. You won't be disappointed. Remember to refrigerate left-overs or gifts.

yield 1 Cup of Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, lightly packed
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup half and half
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 1 tablespoon butter, no substitutes
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

How To Make caramel sauce on everything, please! (easy)

  • Step 1
    In saucepan, combine brown sugar and cornstarch. Stir in half and half, water and corn syrup until smooth. Bring to a low boil.
  • Step 2
    Cook and stir for 2 minutes, or to desired consistency. Remove from heat. Add butter and vanilla and stir until butter is melted.
  • Step 3
    Serve warm or cold. Refrigerate left-overs or gifts. Serve with fresh fruit, over apple pie, ice cream, cobblers, cakes... just about anything. A quick, economical gift that everyone appreciates and can use.
