Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons tamarind paste
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper, or to taste
- 1/8 teaspoon ground himalayan sea salt
How To Make tamarind sauce

Step 1In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add water and bring it to a boil.

Step 2To this, add tamarind paste and stir until nicely blended. Add brown sugar, cumin, ginger, garam masala, cayenne pepper and sea salt; mix well. Bring to a simmer.

Step 3Reduce to medium-low and reduce gently until consistency turns slightly syrupy, about 15 minutes or so.

Step 4Remove from the heat and let it cool off. Yields ¾ cup.
