peanut butter and . . . sandwiches
Thinking back to my childhood, and the things I ate - or wouldn't eat! I remember peanut butter was a staple. And I ate it with so many different things! REALLY! Here is a sampling of some of the things I remember.

- 2 slices bread; whole grain or white; plain or toasted
- 3-4 tablespoons peanut butter; smooth or chunky
- - various assorted other sandwich fillings; see below
How To Make peanut butter and . . . sandwiches

Step 1Peanut butter and honey: On warm toasted bread, spread peanut butter on one side of bread and drizzle honey on the other side.

Step 2Peanut butter and pickles: Spread peanut butter on bread. Top with 2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish or chopped bread and butter pickles.

Step 3Peanut butter and lettuce: Spread peanut butter on bread. Top with several slices of crisp juicey iceberg lettuce.

Step 4Peanut butter and banana: spread peanut butter on bread or toast. Slice banana lengthwise and put on top of peanut butter. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.

Step 5Peanut butter and carrot spread: grate 1/2 carrot and stir into peanut butter. Add a little honey and a bit of cinnamon. Stir in raisins if desired. Spread on whole grain bread.

Step 6Peanut butter and bacon: top peanut butter with 3-4 slices crisp-cooked bacon, and drizzle with maple syrup or honey.
