A few weeks ago, my husband came home from our friends' place with an emerald green jar of homemade pepper jelly. It was delicious! He also brought the recipe. I haven't made a batch yet, but this is the recipe Shirley used, so I KNOW it's great! I'm posting it "as written." Thanks, Shirley!

Ingredients

2 c
ground bell pepper
1/2 c
ground hot peppers
7 1/2 c
sugar
1 1/2 c
white vinegar
1 bottle
liquid pectin
green food coloring, optional

How to Make HOT PEPPER JELLY (Shirley's)

Step-by-Step

  • 1Bring the peppers, vinegar and sugar to a boil.
  • 2Cook for 6 minutes at a rolling boil, then remove from heat and add the pectin.
  • 3Return to high heat and boil for 4 more minutes.
  • 4Add the food coloring as desired.
  • 5Pour into sterilized jars and seal.
