I love jams, especially fig jam. This is a lovely alternative to the orange fig jam I usually enjoy.

  • ·
    3 large fresh figs, cleaned, ends removed, coarsley chopped
  • ·
    1 cup honey, wildflower or your favorite
  • ·
    1 small lemon, juiced, zest thinly sliced
  • ·
    1/4 cup blanched almonds, coarsely chopped
  • ·
    1 tsp fresh ground cinnamon
  • ·
    1 pinch sea salt
  • ·
    1 vanilla bean, scraped for seeds

How to Make Fig Jam


  1. Into a large pot add the figs, honey, lemon juice, lemon zest, ground cinnamon, salt and vanilla bean seeds: bring to a boil.
  2. Reduce the heat and simmer 1 hour, stir frequently while simmering.
  3. When the jam has thickened add in the nuts and continue to simmer for 10 - 20 minutes longer.
  4. Once the marmalade has cooled pour into a sterilized jar.
