Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 cup long grain rice, uncooked
- 1 medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup)
- 2 1/2 cups water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 - 2 teaspoons chili powder (according to ones own taste)
- 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 cup green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 can tomato sauce (8 ounces)
- 1 can tomatoes(15 ounce)
- IF YOU PREFER YOUR'S WITH MEAT, JUST PRE-BROWN 1 LB. GROUND BEEF AND ADD IT IN STEP 2

Step 1Heat oil in 10 inch skillet over medium heat. Cook rice and onion in oil about 5 minutes, stirring often, until rice is golden brown and onion is tender.

Step 2Stir in all remaining ingredients. Heat to boiling; reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally until rice is tender.
