This is NOT a Red sauce base recipe! Growing up my mom made this we never had a tomato sauce for this. I never tried them that way until i grew up and moved out! Yuk! I thought! This is our version...and only way I eat them! You must like sour cream for this!

Ingredients For my family's cabbage rolls

  • 1
    head of green cabbage
  • 1
    container of sour cream
  • 1/2 can
    beef broth
  • 1 c
    white rice
  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 1/2
    onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp
    each salt & pepper
  • 1 Tbsp
    accent seasoning

How To Make my family's cabbage rolls

    Boil large pot of water. Cut Stem out of Cabbage. Put into pot and cook covered until done, maybe 20 min. (leaves should be pulling away from head). Remove cabbage and set aside. Meanwhile in frying pan cook onions with beef. Add salt and pepper and accent. Cook until done and drain fat. set aside. In rice cooker cook rice (if you dont have one just follow package directions). In med bowl mix beef mixture with rice. Pull leafs off of cabbage and spoon mixture into cabbage leaf. then roll up and place into large baking dish seam side down. In a bowl combine sour cream and beef broth. whisk well. Pour over cabbage rolls. Cover with foil and cook @350 about 30 min. serve
