This is such a great recipe that I've probably made hundreds of times over the past 30 years. Ever have one of those recipes that the whole neighborhood can smell cooking?? It's just that good and good for you, too. No heavy brown gravy and huge chunks of potatoes. Definitely not 'yo momma's stew.

My absolute favorite for cool rainy days. Watch your family's face light up when they open the door and smell this cooking. Low & slow cooking is the secret here.

Serve with a loaf of warm bread and butter and you'll have something to sponge up all of the yummy sauce with!

beef stew meat
1 Tbsp
1 tsp
1/8-1/4 tsp
black pepper
1/4 tsp
thyme, dried
1/4 tsp
marjoram, dried
1/4 tsp
rosemary, dried
6 medium
carrots, cut into chunks
3 stalk(s)
celery, cut into bite-size chunks
1 large
onion, chopped
16 oz. can (2 cups) tomatoes, undrained
1/4-1/2 c
red wine, completely optional (i've made it both ways, and it's great either way) can substitute beef broth.

How to Make Amazing Low and Slow Beef Stew (Easy & Healthy)


  • 1Heat oven to 250 degrees.
  • 2In medium covered roaster, combine uncooked beef and all remaining ingredients; stir to combine.
  • 3And that's it! Bake covered at 250 degrees for 5-5 1/2 hours stirring occasionally. Meat will be moist, flavorful and very tender.
