I adore learning how to make anything from scratch and also the cheapest money saving ways.In this one you do not have to buy a culture I have figured it out for you by studying long and hard to dig underneath old time ways.Sorry I forgot where I found this tip.

How to Make Homemade Buttermilk

Step-by-Step

  • 1Clean out an ice tray and pour buttermilk into it and freeze. When frozen just pop out cubes and store in a good freezer baggie.
  • 2Now that you have made your culture! You are ready to start.Cubes will keep in freezer 6 months.
  • 3Pour 3 cups of milk into a tupperware container and add 4 ice cubes of culture.Put cover on container and shake.
  • 4Let this sit out on counter for 3 days. Buttermilk acid will not let this spoil!So it's ok.When thick put in fridge to cool and drink.YUM YUM GOOD!
