homemade mulled cider (with vanilla and nutmeg)
a recipe by
This is quite possibly the best homemade, hot, spiced apple cider you will ever make! This delicious, homemade beverage recipe was given to me by a friend with full permission and posting rights for my blog, etc. It was served at a Post-Thanksgiving meal. CHEF NOTES: For the cook-time, please judge for yourself on how long it takes for your pot of choice to boil. The time I've selected here (20 minutes) is approximate but not certain. If you have a tea straining ball, you can use it. http://www.sugar-n-spiceandeverythingnice.com/2012/11/homemade-mulled-apple-cider.html
Ingredients For homemade mulled cider (with vanilla and nutmeg)
1/2 galcider or apple juice
1orange or tangerine
1/2a cap-full or less, pure vanilla extract (optional)
sliced apples (optional)
How To Make homemade mulled cider (with vanilla and nutmeg)
1Pour cider into pot.
2Zest the peel of the orange with a cheese grater. If you can't zest, squeeze 1/8 - 1/4 orange and drop slice into pot to boil in with ingredients.
3Add a small amount of each spice into the pot. If you have coffee filters or empty tea bags (or other porous material you can boil in high temperatures), use these to hold the spices inside. You can tie the coffee filter and let it sink to the bottom. Otherwise, you may want to strain your cider before serving.
4Once the cider has reached a rolling boil, you are done! Garnish with sliced apples.
