Ingredients
- 1/2 cup cold water
- 2 packages envelopes unflavored gelatin
- 4 cups milk
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups half and half
- 2 teaspoons real vanilla extract

Step 1Put the two envelopes of gelatin into 1/2 cup cold water.Stir it up real good.Set aside.

Step 2Heat the four cups of regular milk until hot but not boiling.Add gelatin and stir-stir-stir.

Step 3Add two cups sugar--one tsp salt--and three cups of half and half.Also add 2 tsp vanilla.Stirrring.

Step 4Now take pan off stove and put in fridge for 6 hours,then place in ice cream gallon bucket or any other container and put in the freezer until later.Makes 1 gallon of great ice cream,just like soft serve at the old Dougs Dairy Twirl when I was a little girl.
