- 1 1/4 cups boiling water
- 1 cup oatmeal, uncooked
- 1/2 cup margarine
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 - eggs
- 1 cup sugar or splenda
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- COOKED CARMEL FROSTING
- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 3/4 cup milk or cream
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Step 1Pour water over oats and cover and let stand 20 minutes. Beat butter til creamy,gradually add sugar and beat til fluffy. Blend in eggs,vanilla and oats and mix well.

Step 2Add flour, baking soda,salt,cinnamon and nutmeg to creamy mixture. Mix well. Pour into greased and floured 9" pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 50-55 minutes

Step 3CARMEL FROSTING: Cook sugar and cream until it forms a soft ball. Add vanilla and butter. Cool. Beat til consistency to spread.
