We love this cake. It's very chocolaty and good for a Valentine's Day dessert.

Ingredients

  • 5 ounces dark chocolate
  • 10 tablespoons butter,usalted
  • 5 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 11/4 cups almond meal
  • 1/3 cup sliced almonds
  • 1 ounce shredded chocolate
  • - for the icing:
  • 3 ounces dark chocolate
  • 4 tablespoons butter

How To Make chocolate almond cake for your valentine

  • Step 1
    Melt the chocolate and butter in a double boiler.Let it cool for a bit.
  • Step 2
    In a mixer, beat egg yolks and the sugar until fluffy.Mix the cooled chocolate into the sugar/ egg yolk mixture.
  • Step 3
    Add the almond meal,sliced almonds and shredded chocolate.
  • Step 4
    In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until they form peaks.Add to the almond mixture. Gently mix in just to combine.
  • Step 5
    Pour dough into a 9 inch spring form pan.Bake 40-45 minutes in 350 F oven.
  • Step 6
    Melt the icing ingredients and spread on top of cool cake.Decorate with additional almonds.
