Ingredients

  • 5 oz
    dark chocolate
  • 10 Tbsp
    butter,usalted
  • 5 large
    eggs
  • 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 11/4 c
    almond meal
  • 1/3 c
    sliced almonds
  • 1 oz
    shredded chocolate
  • ·
    for the icing:
  • 3 oz
    dark chocolate
  • 4 Tbsp
    butter

How to Make Chocolate Almond Cake For Your Valentine

Step-by-Step

  1. Melt the chocolate and butter in a double boiler.Let it cool for a bit.
  2. In a mixer, beat egg yolks and the sugar until fluffy.Mix the cooled chocolate into the sugar/ egg yolk mixture.
  3. Add the almond meal,sliced almonds and shredded chocolate.
  4. In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until they form peaks.Add to the almond mixture. Gently mix in just to combine.
  5. Pour dough into a 9 inch spring form pan.Bake 40-45 minutes in 350 F oven.
  6. Melt the icing ingredients and spread on top of cool cake.Decorate with additional almonds.
