I found this on an old old recipe site.But I did not write down the name of it.Wish I had.

Ingredients

1 c
brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 c
water
1 tsp
vinegar
2 Tbsp
butter

How to Make Year of 1911 Butterscotch Candy

Step-by-Step

  • 1Put all in heavy sauce pan.Bring to a boil.Stirring until sugar has melted then do not stir.
  • 2Reduce heat to where it steadily boils.Boil until brittle test stage this is when you have a cup of ice water and drop by spoon a little bit of candy into the cup and it becomes hard and brittle to the touch when you pick it up out of the cup,
  • 3Butter an 8x8 pan and pour this into the pan.When partially cool--score it with a knife.When completely cool remove from pan and break into pieces.
