cherry whisper's
This is one of my Grandma's recipes I remember her making these for party's and Christmas. Grandma called these cherry wink's I call them cherry whispers that reminded me of Grandma when she talked she never had a bad day or a cross word.

Makes 3 dozen
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup shortning
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon greated lemon peel
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 - egg
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- - candied cherries
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/2 cup walnuts or pecans
- 1 1/2 cups wheat flakes, crushed
How To Make cherry whisper's

Step 1Cream together first 4 ingredients. Add milk and egg; beat thoroughly.

Step 2Sift dry ingredients together add to creamed mixture mixing well

Step 3Stir in raisins and nuts..Drop by teaspoons onto crushed bran flakes toss lightly to coat.

Step 4Place on a greased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. Top with a candied cherry half.

Step 5Bake at400 degrees about 12 minutes. Cool slightly, remove from pan. Makes 3 dozen
