Fun Breakfast Fact: Scottish oats is a type of porridge. Porridge is a food commonly eaten as a breakfast cereal dish. It is made by boiling ground, crushed or chopped starchy grains in water or milk.

  • 3/4 c
    scottish oats
  • 1 large
    apple, peeled and diced
  • 1/4 c
  • 2 Tbsp
    white sugar
  • 1/2 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1/2 Tbsp
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1/4 c
    half & half (i use fat free)

How to Make Scottish Oats with Apples & Raisins


  1. heat about 1/4 cup water in a small, nonstick pan with apples. Saute until they are softened.
  2. Meanwhile, in a medium saucepan, bring 2 1/4 cup water and salt to a boil. Add in oats. Stir frequently until thickened and cooked. (About 5 minutes.)
  3. In last minute of cooking, add in raisins.
  4. Remove oats from heat. Add in Apples, cinnamon, Sugar, vanilla and butter. Stir until well combined.
  5. Divide into two shallow bowls and gently pour half of the 1/4 cup half & half into each bowl. Sprinkle with a dash more cinnamon and serve!
