This is another of my Grandmas's recipes. Home made bread was a must in the 40's, we lived on a farm and only went to town once a month.

    yeast, cake
  • 1/2 c
    lukewarm water
  • 2 Tbsp
  • 2 Tbsp
  • 2 tsp
  • 1/2 c
    milk ( scalded )
  • 2
    egg yolks
  • 3 1/2 to 4 c
    sifted flour

How to Make Grandma Delleplain Yeast Rolls


  1. Soften yeast in lukewarm water,
  2. Add shortening, sugar, and salt to milk. Cool milk to luckwarm and add yeast and beaten egg.
  3. Stir in flour to make a soft dough, turn out onto a floured board and knead until smooth ( about 8-10 minutes )
  4. Shape into rolls. Let stand until double in size bake at 425 for 12-15 minutes.
