Maple apple cider doughnuts..or MAC DOUGHNUTS .lol

Cindy Rice

This recipe is the bomb
If you love maple syrup( THE REAL STUFF), and love apple cider, ( again, the real stuff, lol), then you will love these doughnuts..word of warning, though, be prepared to have your senses, dazzled with great bursting flavor..I inherited the original recipe , from the wonderful, Russian lady, who upon her passing, left us everything( no family to leave it to:(..).. over the last, almost 7 years, I have tweaked this recipe enough to call it my own..:)
You will love it..but, you can t usually eat a whole
Very filling..:)

How to Make Maple apple cider doughnuts..or MAC DOUGHNUTS .lol

  1. 2 tsp. Vanilla ( pure only)
    6 tsp.baking powder
    2 tsp. Baking soda
    1 tsp. Salt
2 tsp. Vietnamese cinnamon( trust me, when I say it s the good stuff, and well worth the'll never go back to ordinary cinnamon) .
    8 ( heaping ) tbls.fresh nutmeg..( yes 8, and yes heaping)
1/3-1/2 cup apple cider..the really good kind..
    3 motts apple sauce cups.
    6 1/2 c. Flour .
    Oil for frying ..
( I use all natural lard, yes, the best results)
  2. Combine ingredIents to make soft dough.
    2-3 minutes per side..
For best results, use a deep cast iron skillet..
  3. If you have enough maple syrup to make a cup, leave out the apple sauce ..
    If not? Then add it..
( the apple sauce that you may find you need it..start with a 1/4 cup of cider, if you find you need it, then of course add want a soft dough, but not overly wet, and of course, you don't want it dry..
This last time I made these, I actually refrigerated the dough overnight..( I don't usually do this), very hard to get out of bowl the next
But definitely worth the effort..I actually think it was beneficial..but you don't need to do this..:)
Good luck( a walk in the park, should be easy), and enjoy..:)
