We always get guacamole when we go to a Mexican restaurant. I decided to make guacamole at home. I found a number of recipes, studied them, and put together my own recipe. After tweaking it, this is what I came up with. My wife says this is absolutely the best guacamole she has ever eaten. Hope you like it too.

We like to use this as a spread on sandwiches and hot dogs. Yum.

firm ripe avocados, halved, pitted, and peeled
2 Tbsp
minced onion
2 Tbsp
chopped cilantro, leaves and stems
1 clove
garlic, minced
1 tsp
1 tsp
fresh lime juice
1 pinch
cayenne pepper
kosher salt, to taste
tortilla chips, for dipping

How to Make Guacamole My Way


  • 1Coarsely mash the avocados in a medium bowl.
  • 2Lightly mix in the onion, cilantro, garlic, cumin, lime juice, and cayenne pepper.
  • 3Season the guacamole liberally with salt, to taste.
