I am 59. I grew up in Texas, I took care of the animals and my mother cooked. She died when I was 18 and I had not cooked anything other than in School Home Ec. The first meal I made was steak, the more you chewed the bigger it got. I started teaching myself to cook at 20. I have collected over 35 years over 5000 hand written recipes, 5000 on the computer, and 750 cookbooks. I live with my daughter and her family now and they are my test subjects. Even though I am now an excellent cook and cook many different cuisines, I continue to learn daily.
