This old fashion vegetable soup recipe has been in our family for eons. No one knows where or how it orginated. The recipe takes time to prepare, but, believe me, it's totally worth it. The soup is even better the second day after the ingredients "marry".

    soup bones
  • 2 lb
    stewing beef
  • 4
    onions, chopped
  • 3
    potatoes, chopped
  • 3
    carrots, chopped
  • 1/2
    head of cabbage, shredded
  • 1
    turnip, chopped
  • 1
    large stalk of celery, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp
  • 1 can(s)
    whole tomatoes, squashed
  • ·
    salt and pepper to taste
  • ·
    enough water to cover all

How to Make Old fashion veggie soup- Connie's


  1. Roll boil soup bone, stewing beef, 1 large onion, and water for 2 1/2 hours
  2. Remove soup bones but leave in any marrow.

    Add potatoes, carrots, rest of onions, cabbage, turnip, celery, parsley, tomatoes, salt & pepper.
  3. Slow boil for 2 hours.
  4. Better the second day.
