  • 1 - stick butter
  • 12 large onios thinly sliced
  • 8 cups beef broth
  • 6 slices french bread
  • 1 cup gruere cheese or mozzarella
  • - salt an pepper to taste

How To Make french onion soup

  • Step 1
    Melt the butter in lrg saucepan, add the onion an cook over low heat for 40 minutes with lid off, stirring often. onions should be dark in color but not burnt. add the broth, season with salt an pepper to taste bring to a boil for about 10 min. ladle into deep soup bowls, put on piece french bread covered with cheese on each one. put under the broiler broil till cheese is melted an turns golden. take out an serve but will be very hot ummmmm
