I have had this recipe for many years...I accidently found it in my old buisness envelope! and going thru some old 1995 records, from when I had a buisness, and finally getting around to shredding...! HA!...LOL I fOUND this great recipe. Talk about safe keeping! Or better yet a pack rat! Are you still laughing ?? We have all done this right? O.K.--Back to the recipe.. When you need this..IT WORKS.

Ingredients For a bloat buster soup recipe

  • 1 tsp
    vegetable oil
  • 1 c
    finely chopped onions
  • 1/2 c
    finely chopped celery
  • 2 tsp
    minced garlic... ( keeps the vampires away !!)
  • 2 c
    white beans, cooked without salt. i use canned rinsed 3 to4 times, and drained
  • 1 c
    finely diced butternut squash
  • 1 c
    chopped carrots
  • 1 can
    (13-3/4 or 14-1/2 oz) reduce-sodium chicken broth
  • 1 c
    water
  • 1
    strip (2 inches) lemon peel
  • 1/4 tsp
    freshly ground pepper
  • 1/8 tsp
    thyme
  • 4 c
    shredded cabbage
  • 1 can
    (14 or 16oz) whole reduce-sodium tomatoes
  • 1 tsp
    lemon juice
  • 1/2 c
    juliened fresh basil
  • 1 tsp
    grated lemon peel

    Heat oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add onions and celery, cover and cook, stirring occasionally till tender, about 5 minutes. Stir in garlic, cook 30 seconds. Add beans, squash,carrots and chicken broth, water,lemon peel, pepper and thyme. Bring to a boil gently, uncovered, until vegetables are tnder, about 20 minutes. Add cabbage, cook just until cabbage is tender, about 5 minutes. Stir intomatoes and lemon juice, return to boil. Add basil and grated lemon peel Makes 6 delishes servings.
