This dish is a thick, hearty dish. My families favorite dish on snow days. Great for winter potluck or fund raisers as well. Can also be done in a slow cooker so your dinner will be ready when you are.

  • 4-10 large
    potatoes, russets
  • 16 oz
    desired meat, optional (chicken, turkey, ham) cubed
  • 1/2 gal
    milk, low-fat
  • 1 stick
    butter, cold
  • 1 medium
    onion, chopped
  • 3 Tbsp
    onion powder
  • 1 sprig(s)
  • 5 clove
    garlic, chopped
  • 3 Tbsp
    garlic powder
  • 1-3 sprig(s)
    bay leaves
  • 1 small
    bag frozen corn
  • 1 small
    bag frozen carrots
  • ·
    salt & pepper to taste

How to Make Creamy Potato Chowder


  1. peel an cut desired amount of potatoes
  2. in a large pot, heat milk on medium heat
  3. cube desired meat. you can skip this step if you do not want any meat in it.
  4. add butter and all spices, stir til butter is melted
  5. add potatoes and meat, let cook on low heat, covered for 30 mins. stirring occasionally so as not to burn milk
  6. add veggies, stir and let simmer another 30 mins covered, or until all ingredients are tender enough to cut with a spoon. stir every so often.
  7. optional toppings or garnish: shredded cheese, celery stalk, salad topper, crunchy chow mein noodles, or any other topping you might like.
