chili with a twist
This chili is not only hearty and filling it is also good for you! :)

Ingredients
- 1 pound ground chicken/ ground turkey 90% lean or higher
- 1/2 - onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 - green pepper, chopped (can also sub. for a frozen bag of peppers and onions. i get mine from kroger)
- 1 can 46 oz tomato/vegetable juice (you can also use a 32oz bottle)
- 2 cans of beans (your choice) rinsed
- 1 cup of corn (canned or frozen) i like to use the kind with jalapeno pieces
- 1/4 teaspoon salt and pepper each
- 1/8 teaspoon ground red pepper (more or less)
- 1 tablespoon ground cumin (more or less)
- 1 teaspoon chili powder (more or less)
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- dash of garlic salt
- - sour cream (optional)
- - shredded cheese (optional)
How To Make chili with a twist

Step 1FOR CROCK POT: start off by browning your meat until there is no longer any pink. Add onions, garlic and peppers and saute for a few more minutes.

Step 2Transfer to a crock pot then add all ingredients besides cheese and sour cream.

Step 3Cook on LOW 5-6 hours or until beans are thoroughly cooked.

Step 4FOR STOVE TOP: repeat step one only this time using a deep pot. Add all ingredients except sour cream and cheese.

Step 5Cover and simmer about 30 minutes. Garnish with sour cream and cheese!!
