I know it isn't exactly "soup weather" right now but it will be and this soup is delicious and fills the whole house with its yummy aroma.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds beef for stew, cut in bite-size pieces
  • 5 cups water
  • 1 cup tomato juice
  • 1 can (14.5 oz.) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 - onion, chopped
  • 1 cup celery, sliced
  • 2 cups carrots, cubed or sliced
  • 1 cup chopped cabbage
  • 1/2 cup quick cooking pearl barley
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 clove garlic, minced

How To Make all day beef barley soup

  • Step 1
    Place all ingredients into a 4-qt. slow cooker. Cover and cook on LOW setting for 8 or 9 hours No need to brown the beef beforehand.
