My grandmother used to make this sweet and sour soup and can it. EVERY time I make this, it gets rave reviews. Grandma would be flattered by all the "mmmmmmmmmmmmmms." Great with crusty bread or rolls.

carrots, diced large

onion, diced

head of cabbage, chopped large

stew beef, cut into small pieces
3 large
potatoes, peeled and diced large
1 can(s)
tomato juice or v-8
1/4 c
2 Tbsp
white vinegar
2 Tbsp
olive or canola oil
1/4 c
salt and pepper to taste

How to Make Grandma's Vegetable Soup


  • 1In a large stock pot, brown meat in oil. Add onion and continue until softened. Add the rest of the ingredients. Give it a good stir.
  • 2Reduce heat and simmer all day. The aroma alone will make you crazy hungry. Enjoy!
