dried navy beans rinsed well

water

ham bone.. . if you dont have a ham bone you can use 6 slices of raw bacon cut up.. actually is easier with bacon.

cooked mashed potato
2 tsp
salt
1/2 tsp
pepper

chopped onion
2 clove
finely chopped garlic cloves

small carrot. chopped small

How to Make Senate Bean Soup

Step-by-Step

  • 1heat beans and water to boiling in dutch oven ...
    boil 2 minutes uncoverd
    remove from heat and let stand 1 hour
  • 2add ham bone (bacon) heat to boiling reduce heat add carrots and cover .. simmer about 2 hours or until beans are tender.
  • 3stir in remaining ingredients cover and simmer 1 hour remove bone serve
