holiday caramel snack
Old standby favorite . We make it every year and sometimes it's not even a holiday.- I love crunchy caramel stuff. I made this for my bowling team mates 22 years ago and I am still making it today. A real family treat.

- 12 ounces pkg. rice chex cereal or wheat chex
How To Make holiday caramel snack
-
Step 1Heat oven to 275^. Spray a large roasting pan or 2 large baking pans with non stick butter spray. In a medium size saucepan, mix butter, corn syrup, and brown sugar. and cook over medium heat until butter and sugar melts.Bring mixture to a boil and boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat.
-
Step 2Place remaining ingredients in the prepared roasting pan. Pour the butter mixture evenly over the cereal and nuts and mix gently until the cereal and nuts are evenly coated. Bake in the oven for 55-60 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes. Remove from oven and set aside to cool. As the snack mix is cooling, and this is very important- be sure to continue to stir so that the mix will be separated and not harden into one big lump. I usually separate it into a few smaller pans. to cool better.
