I love gyros, but wanted to make it healthier and came up w/ this.
These have a very good Greek-food flavor to them.

Add to Grocery List

6 oz container plain, low-fat greek yogurt
cucumber, peeled, diced
1 tsp
minced garlic, from a jar
1 Tbsp
lemon juice
1 Tbsp
chopped, fresh dill
salt & pepper to taste
whole wheat pita pockets
head iceberg lettuce, chopped
red onion, thinly sliced
2 large
plum tomatoes, sliced
8 oz pkg low-fat, if you can get it, garlic and herb flavored feta cheese, crumbled

How to Make vegetarian gyros


  • 1In bowl, stir together, yogurt, cucumber, garlic, lemon juice, dill, salt and pepper. Cover and chill 30 mins.
  • 2Wrap pitas in damp paper towels. Microwave 20 seconds. Place pitas, puffed-side down onto plates.
  • 3Down the middle of each pita, layer lettuce, onion, tomatoe and feta cheese. Fold up sides like a taco. Spoon yogurt sauce into each "taco." Enjoy!!
