When I was growing up, my grandparents grew okra. We had this quite often growing up. When corn was in season, we would add some of that too!

Ingredients
- 1 pound fresh okra
- 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup green bell pepper, minced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 tablespoons butter, melted
- 3 cups fresh tomato, chopped
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon fresh parsley, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon ground red pepper
How To Make southern stewed okra

Step 1Rinse the okra; drain well, and pat dry. Remove the tips and stem ends. Set aside.

Step 2Saute onion, green pepper, and garlic in the butter in a Dutch oven over medium heat until tender. Add the okra, tomato, and remaining ingredients.

Step 3Cover and cook 20 minutes or until the okra is tender, stirring occasionally.
