How to Make Side Essentials: Savory Baked Napa Cabbage

Step-by-Step

  1. PREP/PREPARE
  2. Gather your ingredients (mise en place).
  3. Place a rack in the middle position, and preheat the oven to 400f (205c)
  4. Cut the cabbage into 1/2-inch (1.2cm), and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. Drizzle with a bit of olive oil, about a teaspoon.
  6. Sprinkle on a bit of salt and pepper, to taste.
  7. Place into the preheated oven, and bake until the edges begin to brown, but not blacken, about 25 – 30 minutes.
  8. Remove from the oven, and allow to rest for 2 – 3 minutes.
  9. Chef’s Tip: The crispy bits are the absolute best, so try to get as much crispy cabbage as you can, without burning it.
  10. PLATE/PRESENT
  11. Place on the plate whole, or make it rustic. Drizzle on a bit of vinegar, toss on a bit of cheese (I am thinking feta). Enjoy.
  12. Keep the faith, and keep cooking.
